Where Douro Criativo started.
A full-time employee with a passion for the Douro was selling cruise tickets on the side. He needed Google Ads. We were a freelancer just starting out, and he became our very first client. From a single product, a single language, and a 250€ monthly budget, we built the foundation that a decade later would generate millions in paid-channel revenue.

A hobby, a freelancer, and 250€
A full-time employee with a passion for the Douro was selling cruise tickets on the side. He needed Google Ads. We were a freelancer just starting out. This was our very first client. With 250€/month and bids managed keyword-by-keyword inside Google AdWords, we built the foundation.
- 2016–18Early growth
Year-on-year doubles
Budget doubled, revenue more than doubled. The platform was evolving fast. AdWords became Google Ads, and new ad formats arrived: Expanded Text Ads (ETAs), Dynamic Search Ads (DSAs), and the first automated bidding strategies like Target CPA. We adopted structure and strategy every few months, building on every conversion we had now tracked.

He left his top job
We crossed the 100,000€ revenue mark. That number meant something beyond the spreadsheet: it gave the founder the confidence to leave his day job and dedicate himself fully to Douro Criativo. What started as a side gig was now a real business. We kept pushing: 250K, then 500K, with campaigns expanding across ES, FR, DE, UK, BE, US, BR and more, advertising in 7+ countries in multiple languages, and working closely with Google account managers to access beta features ahead of public release.

COVID-19. Standing with our client
A business that had been multiplying revenue 2–3x annually had one of its worst years ever. We cut our management fee by more than 50%. We don't treat clients as accounts. We treat them as an extension of our own business. When they struggle, we struggle with them.
- 2022–23New era, new structure
Performance Max, RSAs, and audience-first bidding
Post-COVID brought a wave of Google innovation: Performance Max campaigns, the phase-out of ETAs in favour of Responsive Search Ads (RSAs), enhanced conversion tracking, and audience-first Smart Bidding. We rebuilt the entire account from scratch using years of conversion data, expanded to new paid channels, and scaled monthly investment into five figures.

Website redesign, conversion breakthrough
The website was becoming the bottleneck. A full redesign informed by years of keyword, audience and conversion intelligence transformed the conversion rate. Scripts running every hour. Revenue crossed 1 million euros.
- 2025–262M milestone
New website, built by us, and the 2 million mark
Combined with a mature multi-channel paid strategy and a decade of compounding data, the business hit 2 million euros. Paid channels now account for 80% of all revenue. The 2026 redesign and a custom CRM, both built by Growify, are currently in flight.

Tied together so paid, web, and data compound on each other. The cumulative effect is what carried Douro Criativo from a 250€ side project to a multi-million euro business.
